This morning, when I told Khalil it was Eid, his first words melted my heart: "Daddy, Izma, and Hibba go to the airport!" He meant, "Let's go pick them at the airport ," or "Let's fly to meet them."
He understood.
Eid meant spending it together as a family. This was our first time celebrating Eid apart, and honestly, we all felt it.
Thankfully, I'd made arrangements for the girls and their dad to have a wonderful celebration with or without us.
The girls said they missed our Eid traditions which include making henna for each other (myself and big sister) mini-me hates henna I have no idea why but she’s made it clear since she was about a year old and it has not changed till date.
When asked what she (Mini-me)wanted to make for Eid she said “Chin-Chin” which was also part of our Eid tradition. We all join hands to make it and it was always fun.
I ensured dad had their Eid gifts ready as well.
Another part of our tradition is giving them opportunities to choose what food they’d like to eat and that too was taken care of by my help.
Then we often listen to Eid nasheed or sometimes even sing along with karaoke 🎤
My goal was always to make the celebration as memorable as possible.
Alhamdulillah, despite the distance, it truly was still a memorable Eid. I sent the girls a message first thing this morning, reminding them this is just one missed Eid out of the countless ones we'll celebrate together in shaa Allah, along with my message of love and encouragement.
Today, I felt happier than ever about those Eid traditions I'd been creating for years. I didn't fully realize their profound impact until now, and I'm so grateful to Allah for this realization. I could have spent today sulking about missing my family and feeling guilty, but instead, I spent it appreciating Allah's blessings and favor upon us.
Everything is truly part of Allah's majestic plans. Alhamdulillah Always. 🥲😇😇
