He agreed to change his cap this morning—no fuss, no tantrum! I had been preparing him in advance, showing him how dirty the previous cap was and explaining that we needed to wash it because, i ensured I used the words I was sure he understood in fact I used Khalil’s exact words, “Ewww, it’s disgusting!” (He learned that from Peppa Pig, by the way! 😅)#echolalia

He did take his time to think about it, and I allowed him to make the decision. Honestly, I wasn’t sure he would agree, but he did! I even tried my luck with his shoes, suggesting a switch from crocs to sandals, but he just ignored me. I respected his choice and reminded myself that it might be too much change for one day. 😆😆

For children on the autism spectrum, changes in routine or environment can be particularly challenging. It’s important to remember that every child is different, and what works for one may not work for another. As parents, it’s crucial to be patient and persistent. Never give up trying! Small steps can lead to big changes over time. Keep encouraging your child, and celebrate each success, no matter how small!

Alhamdulillah Always 😇
